The Monguz OPAC3 search interface can be used in several languages. Users can change the default language of the interface by clicking on the language code.
(Available anguages are the followings:
Hungarian – HU
English - EN
Romanian – RO.)
During search, the system distinguishes neither between capitals and their lowercase equivalents, nor accented and unaccented letters. Articles and conjunctions are disregarded during the search process. (At least 3 characters must be entered, including the optional truncation symbol.)
Besides the 'Author' field, 'autocomplete' option is also set to the 'Subject-heading' field as default option.
It means that as the user types in the search box, the system offers search predictions that might be similar to the search terms he is typing. These predictions are optional.
The order of search fields is set according to the needs and preferences of the institution.
While searching, there is a possibility of truncation which is indicated by * (for instance law*). In this case, results will include all words starting with 'law'. Truncation can be applied at the beginning and at the end of the word, as well, and can substitute any number of characters.
Masking (indicated by ?) subsitutes only one character.
One field serves for searching a given word or expression. The dropdown panel provides the options according to which the search engine searches for matches in the database. Choosing a category will narrow down the possible results to that field.
By default, the advanced search section consists of three input fields. By choosing the 'Add new field' option, additional search conditions can be defined in new rows. Below the search fields, three radio buttons serve for defining logical relationship between search values. Extra search fields can be deleted with the help of '-' buttons at the beginning of each row.
1.2.1. Refine search
Searches can be further refined by using the settings panel next to the search fields. Filter options are the followings:
Date of publication
Place of publication
New filter fields can be added or defualt ones removed if required by the customer.
Besides, search results can also be filtered by document type. This option is both extendable and removable if needed.
Search results are displayed in Compound format by default, but (Full), (Simple) and MARC views can also be chosen. (1.)
Filters on the left side serve for further refining of the results. (2.) Below each filter, several categories belonging to the filter are listed. In brackets, the number of occurence is displayed. In the optional fields those refining values appear which are related to the works somehow. Every time a new item is added to the applied filters, the list of available filters is updated.
Previously used search details are listed in the ('Search history') window right above the filters on the left side. Their order is descending starting from the most recently used one. By clicking on the icons next to them available options are:
load back into search form (e.g. for further refining)
display search url.
On the results page, results can be browsed with the help of Next and Previous buttons. Also, the number of shown results on one page can be set – available options are 12, 24 and 48 by default. If users select a record from the list, record description becomes visible and other descriptions will be displayed one by one by clicking the Next and Previous buttons.
Records of the Results page can be ordered by the followings: 'Year of publication', 'Title' and 'Last modified'. These filters are available in a dropdown panel.
On the Results page, copy data of certain records can be seen,
and the more detailed view of each record can be shown, as well.
On the Results page, by clicking on the [magnifier] icon next to each item the record is displayed in an 'Simple' format. Records can be browsed one by one by clicking the Next and Previus buttons.
If the user logged in, there is the possibility to place a booking on the main page (see: 'Log in with password').
Direct link to the record is also shown here (= Friendly URL) which can be copied or embedded in a post. (2.)
RIS format enables to transfer the record to the RefWorks software.
Other information may belong to certain items, by clicking on the [goggle_info] icon the user is redirected to books.google.hu.
Share: (3.) The user's favourite book, article, etc. can be shared with others (for instance on Facebook), sent in email or printed (see 'Download').
On the right side, each record can be downloaded in the preferred format, the user can set the character encoding, and choose the operation to be carried out with the record. Records can be:
Sent in email to the given address. (4.)
Items in the result list can be gathered in a separate set for further use (download, further refining).
Items displayed in the list can be added to the cart one by one (by checking the box of the item next to it) or by group selection.
By displaying the Cart, 'Download', 'Refine' and 'Delete' options can be seen.
By choosing this type of search, FIND command language search can be carried out. Boolean expressions can also be used while searching:
The use of brackets determine the order of fulfilling compund searches (For instance: AUTH=sütő AND (LANG=hun OR LANG=rom).

The dropdown panel of the 'Browse' tab serves for selecting the category in which the user can browse.
A result page shows 10 records at the same time, the user can change between pages one by one.
Certain records can be specified from the list to be searched: select the records you would like to search for by checking the boxes in front of them, then click 'Search for selected records' at the bottom of the page.
If the user would like to search for only one search value, 'Search' function in the 'Search' column can be used. To show the category of the search result, choose 'Show' in the 'Categorization' column.
When clicking on the 'Log in' icon, patron barcode (number of the reader card) and password have to be given. The librarian provides the password by default, which can be changed after the first login on the 'Change password' tab. After logging in, the following screen appears:
Here the user can upload a profile picture and change the password.
By clicking on the 'Catalogue' button the Search page appears.

Logged in users can view their own loans, bookings and reserved documents in the 'My library' menu.
Loans can be renewed provided that there is no other booking for them, the patron has no debt and if the library regulations allow to do so.
On the 'Reservations' tab, items are shown which have been taken back and that are waiting to be picked up by the patron. On the 'Bookings' tab, bookings can be cancelled.
Bookings can be made after logging in the system: different authority levels are specified by the rules and conditions of the host library.
Booking is only available if a patron has no debts or overdue loans. This menu also serves for cancelling bookings.
